It was super easy for me to learn rotations, because I could practice hitting the lip and spinning over and over. With skimming, you can just practice airs over and over again by using little ramps that’re breaking close to the beach. Then there’s a huge crossover when it comes to airs and stuff like that. On a skimboard, you can milk a really small wave for a ton of speed – that translated to surfing really well, because it taught me how to find the sweet spot on a wave, the power source to generate speed. It also really helps me with getting speed down the line. Skimming, in that sense, influences my surfing because it makes me do more turns on rail. It felt awkward to me, so I was trying to get rid of the fins. So, I started doing turns by using the rail or getting the fins out of the water as much as I could.
